What is red kratom?
Red kratom comes from leaves with red-coloured veins. It is the most popular vein colour in Europe and is commonly described as the calmest and most relaxing of the four. Many people keep red kratom for the evening, when the day is done and they want to slow down.
Where red kratom comes from and how it is made
Like all kratom, red kratom comes from the Mitragyna speciosa tree in Southeast Asia. The leaves are usually picked when they are fully mature, when the veins have turned a deep red. After harvest they are dried for longer than green or white leaves, often with some exposure to sun or gentle warmth. This slower drying changes the alkaloid balance and gives the powder its darker, reddish-brown tone.
Red Maeng Da: our red kratom
Our red kratom is Red Maeng Da – a selected grade made from large, mature leaves with a rich alkaloid profile. It is milled into a fine, even powder.

Red Maeng Da vs Bali, Borneo and Thai
Many shops sell red kratom under regional names such as Red Bali, Red Borneo, Red Thai. Those names describe where the leaf was grown or traded, while “red” describes the vein colour and how the leaf was dried. Maeng Da is a selected trade grade with large, mature leaves. What to check before you buy red kratom
- A batch-specific lab report (COA) covering alkaloids, heavy metals and microbiology. Ours are on the lab reports page.
- A batch number on the pack that matches the report, so you know the test belongs to your powder.
- Moisture and colour. Fresh powder is dry, fine and even in colour. Clumps or a dull, grey tone suggest poor storage.

How to store kratom powder

Why red kratom varies from batch to batch
Red kratom is a natural product, so no two harvests look exactly alike. The shade can be a little darker or lighter depending on the season, how mature the leaves were and how long they were dried, and a finer grind looks slightly paler than a coarser one. Small differences like these are normal. What should stay the same is the quality: every batch of our Red Maeng Da is tested before it is sold, and you can compare batches on the lab reports page.
